The Cowboy State

Buffaloes during wintertime
560,000 people in an area as big as the western part of Germany. Each of the two biggest cities (Casper, Cheyenne) has about 50,000 inhabitants. The rest are rural, small town communities. Except for Laramie, a university town of 27,000. Wyoming is a mountain state consisting of high plains and Rocky Mountain ranges. It was the first state that allowed women to vote. Not because it is so liberal (ha, ha. Democrats in Wyoming are as rare as penguins in the Sahara), but because in the early days there were almost no women in the state. Only cowboys, miners and railroad workers. "Give voting rights to women and they will come and settle in Wyoming." That was the plan. It worked.

For more information check my Laramie, Jackson and Centennial pages.
