Hello !

I am a male aged 41 from Norway, *recently married*, and I have so far been to around 70 countries. I speak Spanish and English, as well as Norwegian. Now I also try to write travel articles from my trips, and I am a passionate reader too. Interested in history, literature, sociology, and mythology.

Hmmmmmm should I list my 10 favourite destinations, or cities ? I see all you guys got so many good pages ... Wish I had more pics, and a scanner too !

Well apart from travelling I really enjoy reading, and lately I've been reading lots of travel literature. And once you start making those lists, you can't stop ! Here are my favourite 10 (or 15 :-) travel books : (some titles are translated from Norwegian by me - please ask about them, or suggest more !!!)

1) Ryszard Kapuscinski: "The Empire"
2) Norman Lewis: "I Came, I Saw" / "The World The World" (two volume amazing autobio)
3) Amin Maalouf: "Leo the African"
4) V.S. Naipaul: "India: a Million Mutinies now"
5) Norman Lewis: "Naples '44" (this man's life must have been a dream!)
6) Tim Mackintosh-Smith: "Travels with a Tangerine" (abt Ibn Batuttah)
7) Ma Jian: "Red Dust" (from China)
8) Robert D. Kaplan: "The Ends of the Earth"
9) Heather Woods: "Third Class Ticket" (from India)
10) Claudio Magris: "The Danube"

Yes, I knew they'd be 15 in the end ... these are Norwegian (one Danish), but I will include them anyway. They're excellent, so why shouldn't they be translated? Some of them are, I am sure:

11) Knut Hamsun: "I Æventyrland" (not well known, but bloody good book by the 1920 Nobel Winner)
12) Carsten Jensen: "Jeg har set verden begynde" / "Jeg har hørt et stjerneskud"
13) Tomm Kristiansen: "Mor Afrika"
14) Morten Strøksnes: "Hellig Grunn"
15) Ragnar Kvam jr.: "Den tredje mann: beretningen om Hjalmar Johansen"
