    • Malaria is low risk throughout Thailand with two exceptions: the provinces of Trat and Tak - in these areas it's recommended to either bring some really strong mosquito repellent (deet preferably) and/or take doxy or malarone. Having said this most people are malaria-alert and very careful between dusk and dawn anyway. The problem is that many forget that other creatures can bite u during the day - and some of those can transmit dengue fever (for which, for the record, there is no profilaxy). Truth is: I did not meet anyone who suffered from malaria while travelling in Thailand, but i did come across quite a few who went down with dengue. Moral of the story: use repellent during daylight hours too.

    • Thius is a warning particularly related to the northern part of Thailand.. opium and heroin land. Although you may see local people, pespecially hill-tribe people using it, and selling it, I suggest not to follow their example. let'sface it: Thai prisons are not are not a fancy place to spend a few decades of your life, and buses get checked regularily by policemen. I even saw monks being checked. So be wise, don't do drugs.

     'Wat To Phae' is not as listed in http://www.indexmundi.com/zp/th/24640.htm (N18.80 E97.91), nor does it match my experience: I live around here & wat is 5km SW / Khun Yuam.
