If you must have your piace of sacher torte in vienna, your best bet is to go where it was created... it's heavenly. But can you imagine that only a few hundred metres away it becomes unedible? This happens (often) in Vienna.

Favorite Dish: One should come here for the "original" sacher torte, but the coffees are some of the bests, too. I'm addicted to Franziskaner, a coffee with enough milk to resemble the color of monks of the Franciscan order

Restaurant Name: Gasthaus Wild

Vienna is home to some really bad food, unless you try some foreign cuisines - oily, greasy, uninspiring. But we found a little corner of heaven at the Gasthaus Wild... which serves a lot more than your average Austrian food, or - at times - Austrian food revisited,

It's a simple place, with wooden floors and large tables and a cosy atmosphere - not sophisticated, just friendly. It is open tuesday to Sunday, from 10 AM to 1 AM, and the kitchen is open until 11 PM (10 PM on Sunday)

Favorite Dish: I had some sort of stewed meat which was excellent and served with a "roll" of potatoes and pumpkin, and some other people chose the tuna steak in sesame seed. We all found it delicious, and the tuna was cooked to perfection, slightly raw inside and well-done outside. The Wienerschnitzel, which a friend had, was huge andd cheap (9 euros I think) and crispy rather than greasy.

We tried some desserts too. The apple and pear strudel seemed to be everyone's favourite, while the one I tried (some fried "sort of buns" with strawberries and rhubarb) was excellent as well.

Restaurant Name: ribs of vienna

Downtown and downstaris, that's what the restaurant says... and in fact it is located downstairs, in a sort of cellar room with long wooden tables. Actually the interior is quite nice although often crowded... when we went there we were unlucky, as one table was free

Favorite Dish: Definitely the worst spare ribs one can ever eat... yes, they are one metre long... yes, the meat is very tender... but even if you ask for the plain ribs no sauce, they serve them to you with a sort of ketchup-like sweet sauce on top which totally spoils the taste of the meat. Utterly disgusting.

Restaurant Name: Martin Sepp

Most wine tavers in Grinzing are beautiful, with massive wooden tables inside and some tables in a wonderful courtyard/garden... Martin Sepp is one of most beautiful. However we chose it for the menu, as from the menu it seemed to offer a little more than your average greasy food. Basically it served asparagus and the other wine taverns didn't. But...

Favorite Dish: Look at the photos and you'll see how disappoiting the meal was. Other than your usual greasy meat (often pork), the asparagus came as such:

Dish 1: only three of them
Dish 2: plenty of them but swimming in Bernaise sauce
