A nice hotel in a very convenient location - right in the heart of town... however we stayed only for one night - and could not make the most of it (the rest of our time was spent in a hotel near the beach).

Unique Qualities: A cosy, if too heavily decorated, room - with all the necessary amenities - and affordabnle enough for being in Dubai - and btw never trust the published rates: when we wrote to them we were given much lower prices. Beware of rooms on the 1st floor - they tend to be somehow noisy due to the nightspot downstairs... which also seemed to double as a brothel.

A simpe hotel, 2 stars only, in a very handy location - right by the bur dubai bus stand, so very convenient for moving about... I was a bit uneasy about this hotel, because of the bad reviews it has got - but I must say I was satisfied: it is not as dirty as they say (in fact it was quite clean) although not luxurious. For the price we paid, it suited us well.

Oh, and really nice staff.

Unique Qualities: The room was correct, clean and functional - not fancy, though. As for the breakfast: do skip it - it's indian-style and very greasy. Undrinkable coffee. It's only a few minutes from a carrefour supermarket, so we just used to buy our breakfast there the evening before.

We really liked our stay in this hotel - it is right by the Jumeirah Open Beach and it's quite nice... it's not one of the fancy hotels so it's a bit cheaper (still 220 US dollars a night). It is also only 20 minutes from the centre of Dubai, which helps...

During Ramadan time rooms come at half the price, and because it's so near to the beach, you can simplt just dash into your room if you feel like drinking some water or having a snack

Unique Qualities: Comfortable and a bit tacky rooms, and a couple of restaurants... quite good and informal. There's a little swimming-pool, too, but it is really suitable only for kids.
