the elusive tray of soaps
the quest lasted several hours in the Aleppo souq. They had to be green and shaped as a heart, Titti said. Needless to say, these soaps did not exist.
But it was a good excuse to see the souq inside and out.
HIGHLIGHTS
a truly fairytale citadel
an enchanting souq
quaint little old lanes
mystical whirling dervishes

Just looked at your wonderful Aleppo page to see what the Great Mosque looked like, but I see none! I guess you didn't take any because of the construction. Thanks for visiting Aleppo... you must go back, at least to see the restoration!
I didn't know there were dervishes here too!! Le Baron is one of those mytical hotels I'd love to visit one day, so much History inside... Great page as usual!
A wonderful introduction to a city I know far too little about. Thanks for sharing your fascinating tips and pics!
Wonderful info and nice pics, thanks you for sharing your experiences with us. I like to go there.
Thanks for your wonderful descriptions!
I love the way they present everything (spices, soaps, etc.) at the souqs. Another great page. The history here is incredible!
Ho capito!!!! Hai confuso la shape del falafel di Damasco, con quella dei saponini di Aleppo!! SviSSera!!!!
Excellent page Miss A. !! you show/describ everything so well and wake all the sences about so many things. wonderful !
ma se i saponi all'olio d'oliva li metto in padella con due cipolline ed uno spicchio d'aglio..viene un buon soffrittino?
Nice pictures and absolutly great info.
