Clothing/Shoes/Weather Gear: If there's a single item you should not miss to pack for visiting Petra is that old (maybe smelly) pair of trainers... those really comfortable ones that you rarely wear anymore. You'll have to do a lot of walking to see a little bit of Petra - at least 12-15 kilometres... so you need shoes that don't give you blisters or hurt you. The entire site is very dusty, so you also need shoes that youdon't mind ruining (because you will). So pack those old trainers, for heaven's sake
