Restaurant Name: the blue fig
A different Amman: this is upscale Amman - where the young, hip and rich people go. it's a restaurant like many others... the people, the music, the food... all seems familiar... until you remember you are in Amman. Only then you notice the mix-gender parties and uncovered heads. Refreshing - yet somehow unreal. Futuristic
Favorite Dish: let's face it - the food is nothing to write home about - except for arab bread. You go to the Blue Fig to see the people - thousands of light years apart from the people in downtown Amman

Restaurant Name: Al Quds/Jerusalem Restaurant
In the centre (downtown) you'll find the Jerusalem Restaurant: delicious and untouristic. A simple place too, if you have to judge by the cutlery: you get a spoon and fork (but no knife): the food is the best i ate in Jordan. A huge meal with drinks cost 3 dinars, if I remember well, and it was so much that most remained uneaten.
Favorite Dish: lamb mensaff and falafel. I would have said hummus and arab bread, only because I'm so fond of it, but it would have been too predictable

A very basic eaterie the size of a tiny bedroom, with a choice of three dishes: you just go to the counter and point at the food. You only get a spoon to eat, so basically you'll have to use your hands. As for the crowd: smiling middle-aged men in red keffiyah wondering how this tourist ended up eating there. Strictly for locals - but people were very welcoming
Favorite Dish: chicken (a whole one!),chickpeas and rice. very simple food, but very good. Together with a coke: 1 dinar!
