Good morning Vietnam: quality food, rare to find in Hoi An

Hoi An, food-wise, proved to be a very sad place... plenty of restaurants all over, of very poor quality. One notable exception is the Good morning Vietnam, although it mainly serves Italian food. The people are friendly and the owner, Massimo, helpful. Just don't talk politics with him, he's quite angry with the entire world.

Favorite Dish: Special of the day, when we went, was a swordfish carpaccio, meaning raw sword-fish slices... delicious, but not for those who can't eat garlic, as they surely abounded. I loved it. My husband had some more conventional pasta with shrimps.. he quite liked the added spoonful of caviar on top.

A good meal... only slightly pricier than other restaurant in town, but ten thousands times better

Sakura restaurant: a very non-japanese restaurant

This small restaurant's best asset is that it is on the river and looks very nice, with its beautiful decorations... but of the promised Japanese cuisine there was very little. As for the Vietnamese food... no comment

Favorite Dish: Indifferent food, in general - so we were really not too impressed. Only the soups were tasteful - especially the asparagus and chicken soup.

street vendor: fruit juices and the huge coconut...

There are many places selling street food and fuit juices all over Hoi An... our favourite was along the river, where fruit juices were delicious... local youth seemed to be fond of pressed sugar-cane juice.

Favorite Dish: Have a coconut... a huge coconut, in fact... the biggest I have ever seen. Dirt cheap, and enough for three or more people... For two, it was massive, and we could not finish it

quan thang restaurant: OK Hoi An roses

A small restaurant in a nice ancient wooden building by the river... very scenic, with passable food. Definitely the typical Hoi An standard food... nothing exceptional but edible.

Favorite Dish: The only decent food we ordered was the "traditional" rose of Hoi An, the rest of the meal was definitely not memorable... in fact I have totally removed the other dishes that were brought to us.
