Bong Sen Annex: A well-located 2 star hotel
  • Tip Rating: [Not enough ratings yet]
  • Satisfaction:
  • On our second stay in HCM we had decided to choose a hotel in the Dong Khoi area rather than the more popular (but cheaper) Co Giang. We were really happy with it, especially since we found much more to do and see at night without having to catch a taxi or a xe-om.

Whereas Dong Khoi is lively and buzzing with activity, Co Giang was much more like KSR in Bangkok... a backpackers trap with cheap tourist restaurants, cafes and shops... and not much else.

Unique Qualities: The rooms were correct... nothing too fancy but comfortable, even if not too spacious. There was also air-con, a TV, minibar and a hair-dryer, although this is not much different from the standards in toehr hotels.

it's a bit pricier than hotels in the Co Giang area, so I guess you pay more for the location than for what you get.

    Bi/Bee Saigon: a cosy mini-hotel
  • Tip Rating: [Not enough ratings yet]
  • Satisfaction:
  • A minihotel, well actually two, in the Co Giang area... nice spacious rooms, oriental furniture and quite clean... not exactly spotless but acceptable. The best asset of these two mini-hotels are the people who work there... very helpful and friendly.

Unique Qualities: We had a really nice room in a nice hotel but in a really terrible location. Co Giang is definitely a dump... very central but dead at night. Rooms rates start at 20 dollars a night. When we returned to Ho CHi Minh we knew better, and chose a hotel in the Dong Khai area... it's a more pricey area, but much more lively and interesting.

Nice start to Saigon. You had to travel all that way to sample caffe' italiano! I am surprised there was no shisha lounge too. Ciao!
