Luang Prabang - I had heard the name so many times that just the sound would hypnotyze me.
Luang Prabang, I must admit, is definitely not an off-the-beaten-path location - there are indeed plenty of travellers there. On the other hand, because of the poor states of the roads, it has not been taken over by tour-buses corwds yet, so the place is still enjoyable. The luster of Luang prabang is still here.. not forever, probably, so maybe it's the time to go there now.
Luang Prabang is really a wonderful place. It's a Unesco World Heritage Site, because of its richy adorned temples and pagodas and because of the historical architecture of some of the houses - a sort of colonial french type villas intemingled with thatched huts. Right in the middle of the town there's a hill, with nice hillside temples alll the way to the top, where a tall stupa is towering over all. Below, there are great view and the Mekong River, the mighty Mekong...

Wonderful memories. I was jetlagged and I had an odd crying spell at the Royal Palace, in that red mosaic room. I was overwhelmed. I really left my heart in LP. Beautiful page.
