I commend you for mentioning the carillon and putting up a photo! Enjoyed your page, thanks.
The statue and the liquid indeed symbolise a student and beer. At the statue can be read (in Latin): "Wanneer het beer is uit de kan, de wijsheid is in de man", roughly translated this means "when the beer is out of the cup, the wisdom is in the man"
I only saw Leuven in a hurry on a rainy day, it looks like i have to come back to properly see it ; it looks so nice.
Lovely page on a lovely town. Great pictures help to emphasize the beauty. Very nicely presented.
