Louisiana is named for Louis XIV of France, in whose name La Salle took possession of the Mississippi Valley in 1682. Louisiana is sometimes called the "Nations Sugar Bowl" because it grows more sugar cane than any other state. It also ranks first in growing rice, and is among the leading cotton growing state.
Louisiana has a magical old world flair that sweeps you into a memorable realm of jazz, history, culture, customs ...
... and influence of the early French and Spanish settlers.
- Pros:New Orleans, Cajun Country, antebellum and plantation houses, swamp tours

Hi, another very interesting page, thanks for sharing!
Excellent page of less visited part of the USA. You convinced me to add Louisiana to my next US adventures, probably and hopefully soon - after 10 Oct. Thanks a million :-)
Fantastic pictures and info!! Bayou canoeing and Zydeco looks like my kind of stuff!! Collecting tips in my travel guide thks!!
Fascinating and well done pages on one of the most interesting states in the US. I noticed all the lawns of the houses had puddles of water, the bayous are endemic through the region!
Those lazy looking old trees with the Spanish moss hanging down are captivating, aren't they? I think you saw the best of Louisiana. Good job!
stunning green place, never been here though. very nice presentation on Louisiana. thanx Helga
Surely everybody eats at the Cajun Cabin sometime, eh? I know I have more than once. I love Oyster Po-boy's! Now I'll have to find a restaurant and typical food in Belgium next year! :-) -- Greg
