Getting TO/AROUND: Air Moorea provides 10-minute air taxi service with 13 to 19 flights daily from Tahiti to Moorea. The planes depart every hour from the Air Moorea terminal which lies within easy walking distance from the International Airport of Tahiti Faaa.

Getting TO/AROUND: The Temae Airport in Moorea has restrooms, a restaurant-bar, car rental agencies, and information counters. Taxi service is usually available for all arriving flights. There is, however, no bus service provided to the airport.

We used Torea Nui Transport for our transfer from the airport to the hotel. They have an office at the Moorea airport and a one-way ticket costs 500 CFP (4 EUR) per person per trip to any place on the island.

For your departure with Air Moorea (back to Tahiti) your check-in time is 15 minute prior to departure. When you are going to one of the other islands, like Huahine, Bora Bora, Raiatea your check-in time with Air Tahiti is one hour prior to departure.

Ferries at the Vaiare Terminals

Getting TO/AROUND: There are different ferry services between Tahiti and Moorea.

Moorea Express
This is a fast catamaran with a crossing time of 30 minutes.

Moorea Ferry
This is a car ferry with a crossing time of 60 minutes
Fare: 848 CFP (7 EUR)

Aremiti 4
This is a comfortable air-conditioned catamaran with a crossing time of 30 minutes.
Fare: 1060 CFP (8.9 EUR)
Reservations: Papeete: 50 57 57 / Moorea: 56 31 10

Aremiti Ferry
This is a catamaran that transports cars, big trucks and construction equipment and up to 500 passengers. The crossing time is 60 minutes.
Fare: 1060 CFP (8.9 EUR)
Reservations: Papeete: 50 57 57 / Moorea: 56 31 10

The Ferry terminals are located in Vaiare, on the east side of the island. You will find public telephones, car rental agencies, taxi service, toilets, fruit stands and snack bars.
Public ground transportation is provided by buses or le truck, waiting in front of the terminals upon the arrival of the catamaran and ferries.
Make sure you get on the right bus because one bus goes in the direction of Cook's bay and the other goes the opposite way in the direction of Haapiti. You pay the driver 300 CFP (2.5 EUR) before boarding, and pull the cord, ring the bell or holler "stop" when you want to get off.

Jeep on Moorea

Getting TO/AROUND: If you want to explore the interior of the islands, you'll need a jeep. It's nice to drive a convertible and you need a four wheels drive vehicle for the roads. They can be very rough.

Getting TO/AROUND: Another nice way of exploring the island is renting a scooter. There is a paved road going all the way around the island for about 60 km (37miles).
