The Krimml waterfalls are part of the National park Hohe Tauern. The total drop of the waterfalls is 380m (1250ft), which makes them the highest waterfalls in Europe. There is a lower fall with about 150 m (490 ft.), a middle fall with about 100m (330 ft.) and a upper fall with about 150 m (490 ft.)

You can see the waterfalls from the street, and are only minutes away from the carpark.

There is an easy trail from the lower fall to the upper fall with many great viewing points. You will need about 1.5 hours to get to the top.

When you reach the top of the Krimml waterfalls, you are at the Krimml Achental valley. It's one of the most beautiful valleys of the High Tauern National Park. You can follow the path that will bring you after a couple of hours to the southern end of the valley, where the Krimml Ache has its source.

The cosy village of Oberau is located in the heart of the Kitzbühel Alps. Oberau is one of the four villages in the Wildschönau Valley. It was my first winter vacation to Austria where I learned to ski. It isn't a large ski area, but it is surely sufficient for a beginner or medium skier. In the Wildschönau valley are 63 kms of pistes and 2 cable cars. There are also some activities for non skiers, such as tobogganing, sleigh rides or winter walking. And after a long day don't forget the après ski.

We've been to Ellmau twice, once during summer and once during winter. It's a lovely village at the foot of the Wilder Kaiser. It offers great hiking during summer and splendid skiiing during winter. Around Ellmau you will find a total of 93 ski lifts and 250 km of ski runs of which 160 km are served by snow-making facilities.

The Wilder Kaiser is an impressive rugged mountain range. It is located in northern Tyrol near the German border. In Kufstein you can take a cable car to the top, where you can do some nice hiking.

Wildpark Aurach is a great day out, especially with kids. In the small park you will find mostly alpine animals in their natural surrounding in a huge out-door enclosure. It is lovely to walk amongst them . Don't miss feeding time. A great experience.

It is located near Kitzbühel and open daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. (closed between November and Christmas).

I don't remember exactly where this pic was taken, but it was in one of the towns at the foot of the Wilder Kaiser. I just want to show you this lovely chapel. Tyrol is a great area in Austria with many lovely villages with typical architecture, and mountain scenery.
