Royal Pavilion - Brighton - East Sussex

Royal Pavilion - Brighton

Brighton - Royal Pavilion

You just don't expect to see a building like this in England. The Royal Pavilion looks like an Indian Palace and is located in the centre of Brighton in a lovely garden. We walked around the garden where you will also find a beautiful gate and the domed stable block that is now used as a concert hall. Many people come here to relax on the grass.

Unfortunately I didn't have time to visit inside, but looking at their website, it looks very beautiful.

Beachy Head - East Sussex

Beachy Head

Beachy Head

Beachy Head is the highest chalk cliff in the UK and sadly best known for the people committing suicide by throwing themselves off these cliffs. However, I would suggest you to come here for the lovely cliff top walk. The scenery is wonderful and peaceful, with great views of the ocean, white cliffs, a beautiful lighthouse and endless green meadows.

There is a restaurant and car park half way the Beachy Head Road.

Battle is a small village some 3 miles north of Hastings and worth a visit especially for its abbey.

The town was founded on the site of the battle of Hastings in 1066. The town was built up around Battle Abbey, which was built by William the Conqueror, as a penance ordered by the pope for the loss of the many lifes during the battle. It is now in the care of English Heritage and can be visited.
