Los Angeles, the start and finish of our 20-day visit to California. We stayed two nights at the Best-Western hotel on Wilshire Boulevard as a part of our package. Compared to my standards, this was a very luxurious hotel. They even brought us beer when we were tryin' to swim through our jetlag at 8 o'clock in the evening.
The next day we went to Hollywood (how tourist-like) and walked down Sunset- and Santa Monica Boulevard. It's a good advice to rent a car because the public transportation in L.A. sucks big time,it's very bad, compared to the dutch system.
That night we started of with dinner at a restaurant which name I can't remember, but it had a 50's-hamburger-restaurant theme, including dressed-up waitresses. As a start of many language-mishaps,I ordered "Grandpa's Love-Meat",which should have been "Grandpa's Meat-Loaf"...
After that we visited the famous Viper-room. We were amazed to find out how small it was,and wondered how the Masters of Reality performed on the litlle stage. There were three bands performing, and the fact that I don't remember their names, says it all.
Around 1 AM they closed up so we went to the Rainbow Bar and Grill, only to find out Lemmy from Motorhead is about 1,65m. long (or short),they serve Grolsch beugels and it's visited by wannabee- and has-been-rockers. After a short cab-drive through nightly L.A. ("So mr. cabdriver, what's the murder-rate around here?") we arrived at our hotel and went to bed.
The next day we picked up our Camper to start a round trip through California.
one down,many to.go.
