being a pedestrian-tourist-thing in rome is quite nerve-wrecking. you really need to take that leap of faith to cross the road. mind you, i'm not talking about jay-walking...i mean the zebra-crossing. almost motorist thinks he's michael schumacher in a ferrari and will *only* stop when you *start* crossing...and the ferrari is only about a feet away from you.

i think pickpockets generally target tour groups travelling in a flock. it seems it's easier to stick to a crowd than say, a couple walking about. i guess we were pretty lucky - no trouble at all, even at night.
