Restaurant Name: Restaurant Bremen
We found the restaurant whilst walking down the street on which it is situated, and were attracted by its 177 Ruble business lunch deal - and weren't disappointed. For this price we got a salad, a starter and a main course with a garnish and a cup of black tea - drinks being extra. The food tasted good - we enjoyed medaillons of pork with ratatouille, a greek salad and a vegetable soup, with the menu changing each week and with three choices of salad, starters and main courses. The service was polite, attentive and very quick, and the restaurant was a lot better value than most in the area.
Favorite Dish: Their salads as a starter are very good - often salads can be too oily but their's was an exception.

Restaurant Name: Parnas
Feeling peckish and being in the area, we visited Parnas for lunch - the menu looked good and it was fairly full. Unfortunately in hindsight we wish we hadn't. The service was very slow, and the rest of the client?le appeared to be people on a long lunch break. There were a variety of mineral waters served - some Russian, some foreign - needless to say as foreigners we were automatically offered the most expensive foreign mineral waters. The breaded camembert was not bad, although the portion fairly small and the pancakes were served with whipped cream and some horrible blue vermicelli. All in all the restaurant was over-priced and not nearly as good as Bremen - where we had a great lunch, and an affordable one at that. A main course and dessert here with mineral water for two came to 825 roubles - far too much in comparison with elsewhere.

Restaurant Name: Kafe Literaturnoe
The restaurant is thriving on its past - this was the restaurant where Pushkin ate his last meal prior to losing a duel. Nowadays it is little more than an overpriced tourist trap. We found the service poor to the extent of being discourteous - orders were bungled, we were repeatedly served the wrong stuff. The only plus point was that the pianist could play the piano. Despite being practically empty, the staff seemed to appear too busy to take our order - we have to make as to leave to get their attention. Coffee was overpriced and only lukewarm.
Favorite Dish: The Borshcht, when it eventually arrived, was not bad.

Restaurant Name: Da Vinci
Da Vinci is not quite such an Italian restaurant as you might expect given its name - there being a wide variety of different cuisines to sample. It seems to be a very popular hangout for businessmen, and I believe from what I read in the restaurant that it all has live shows (whether they are of an adult anture or not, I can't say). The food is well-prepared and presented, but of course this requires time to do - we were very glad that there was a basket of bread available to stop us starving. When it arrived, however, the food was very good, but the wait - about 45 minutes was too long.
Favorite Dish: I enjoyed the venison I had - it was very tasty and well presented although about EUR 14 for a main course made it more expensive than Austrian prices. My girlfriend had some rabbit - both dishes were very good, although the wait for them was too long!
