  • I stayed here for a couple of weeks when I first arrived in Vienna and was looking for a flat to move into. Back then I paid ATS 2700 for 2 weeks - that was in fact the fee for a month (or part thereof!). The current rate is US$175 per month for summer 2005 - based on spending 3 months there. I had a small room with shower on the sixth floor of the building and shared a communal kitchen with a lot of students. The inhabitants are a mixture of students, immigrants - in particular families - and people on an extended trip to Vienna. For a fortnight it was perfectly comfortable, although on the small side. There was a laundry nearby, supermarkets down the road and it was in a fairly quietish but easy to reach part of Vienna. By purchasing a card for the computer room I had internet access which was essential for finding a flat.

Unique Qualities: Cheap accommodation - ideal rather than spending a fortune on accommodation in Pensionen and/or hotels.

  • Well air-conditioned hotel - essential for stays in the summer when Vienna can get very hot indeed.

I'm sorry, but I live in Favoriten all my life (35 years) and NEVER had anything happen to me! Be careful while walking around at night everywhere in the city, especially close to Schwedenplatz where quite many drunk people roam around and may harass you.

Very disappointed, cafe is bad or unless not so good as one expect to be and very expensive. And cakes are good (as in many other confectioner´s shops in Europe) but not excellent
