Living in Vienna on a shoestring and other Vienna, Austria Hotel/Accommodation Reviews

I stayed here for a couple of weeks when I first arrived in Vienna and was looking for a flat to move into. Back then I paid ATS 2700 for 2 weeks - that was in fact the fee for a month (or part thereof!). The current rate is US$175 per month for summer 2005 - based on spending 3 months there. I had a small room with shower on the sixth floor of the building and shared a communal kitchen with a lot of students. The inhabitants are a mixture of students, immigrants - in particular families - and people on an extended trip to Vienna. For a fortnight it was perfectly comfortable, although on the small side. There was a laundry nearby, supermarkets down the road and it was in a fairly quietish but easy to reach part of Vienna. By purchasing a card for the computer room I had internet access which was essential for finding a flat.

Unique Qualities: Cheap accommodation - ideal rather than spending a fortune on accommodation in Pensionen and/or hotels.

Well air-conditioned hotel - essential for stays in the summer when Vienna can get very hot indeed.
