If U want to explore the mountains in Mallorca, this will be your place.
The municipality covers an area of 140.32 km2 and had a population of 301 in 1997. On its territory lies the 3 highest peaks on Mallorca Island, wich are:
- Puig Major: 1.443m
- Massanella: 1.352m (in the photo)
- Tomir: 1.103m
And some others near 1000 meters as Puig Roig 1.003m
Also U will find here the Lluc Santuary, the pilgrimage center of the island, 800m high.
Here also is located the place that is a "must" to visit in the Balearic Islands, the "Torrent de Pareis" and it's cala, "Sa Calobra".
I'll give U an important advice... don't try to go through the Torrent de Pareis without a guide. It can be very dangerous with some places very hard to pass through. If U feel U're not in your best phisical conditions, don't go there. Year by year, at least 10 or more tourists suffer accidents there and even there have been some deaths.

In August i rode with a local majorcan cyclist up past the military base, and he said there is a day, once per year that they allow civilians up the mountain. Does anyone know when that is?
