Snails
Have U ever tasted snails? No...then U can taste them in Mallorca. There are plenty of places where to eat them, is a local dish.
Trampo
Take plenty of tomatoes, some peppers, onions and tuna. Cut it all in little pieces and U´re ready to eat the local mallorcan salad, "Trampo".
It´s delicious!
Tombet
Enjoy this wonderfull tipical plate....
Is a vegetable stew with potatoes, fried peppers and aubergine, covered with tomato sauce...enjoy it!
A siesta is a short nap taken in the early afternoon, often after the midday meal. Such a period of sleep is a common tradition in hot countries. The word siesta is from the Spanish language derived from the Latin (hora)sexta.
So after this explanation my tip is only to say to U that usually every store closes at 1pm and opens again at 4pm. So be aware, if U need to buy something, do it in the morning or U'll need to wait until 4pm.
Now somw big stores do not close, they are aware about tourist that don't need to sleep each day, they prefer to wander around. So if U need something at nap hours, go to the big stores.
"Brut" means dirty on mallorquin language. They call brut this plate because they used whatever the season gives to prepare it.
Is a delicious plate, full with various vegetables, tomatoes, peppers, parsley and many others depending on the season. They used various kind of meat too, ram, porc, doves and others....just in any place U can ask for this dish, U'll not regret it!
...picture coming soon...
Talking
People go to festivals, concert and dance contest. Even in the public U can see people dressing with typical outfits, just wearing theme, to show and keep their tradition alive.
Wainting for the glory...
In Mallorca there are several groups that keep flamenco music alive. Even the smallest follow the tradition maybe with hope that one day they will perform in the great theaters around the world...
Dancing
In Mallorca htey keep very well their traditions, their language, mallorquin, very related with catalan because of the inmigration of catalan people when Napoleon attacked their places.
In Mallorca U'll find also traditional dances like jota and flamenco. People gather in any square and dance, they play their music and remember their traditions.
