Rothenberg is the last standing walled city from the feudal days of Germany. Most of Germany at the times were a bunch of feuding city-states that protected their inhabitants with giant walls from their city neighbors. All of them are gone or have been destroyed. This one still stands and is remarkable. It's touristy, but I think it's still a neat place to go for sure. The only problem with this place is that it's in the middle of nowhere and trains come here but not often. So driving is usually the best option. |
