Strasbourg is in the coveted Alsace-Lorraine region of France. This beautiful fertile land was fought over between the Germans and French for centuries until the end of WWII. It sits on the border with Germany and because of this the town speaks both German and French. The medieval architecture is intact and standing largely due to the Americans valiant defense of the region during WWII. It is historically unique and very distinct from the rest of France or Germany. Because of this it is the capital of the European Union. It has no real national identity. Just its own. |
