I have done a lot of skiing, and I have to say that Salt Lake is probably one of the best places to go for a ski vacation. It is easy to get to, via airplane or car, the mountains are very accessible and the lift tickets are reasonable. ALTA, without a doubt is the best skiers mountain in North America. Rarely crowded, ALTA receives more snow than most other areas. Close by is Snowbird, Solitude and Powder Mountain. For great nightlife check out Park City.
