Newton's Rooftop: Backpacker's Paradise...

This is something of a backpackers paradise - I heard about it when people passed me a flyer and told me about it. Newton - the owner - is a character in himself and the staff is great. He has several apartments in a block which he rents rooms in from small dorms to double rooms, some with their own bathrooms. There are kitchens if you want to cook, and breakfast is included in the price - a huge feast round a large table that gets everyone talking for the day. His apartment, where breakfast takes place is on the top floor and he has balconies and a small roof top terrace which is just great for looking up at the Christ statue as the sun goes down. There's even a tv lounge with cable t.v. (a rare treat for backpackers in south america!). There's a book swap and laundry facilities too, and you are five minutes away from Copacabana beach at a fraction of the cost of everywhere else...around 20 Reais /per person /per day! As I've been asked several times now for 3-4 stars accomodation places in Rio de Janeiro and not only budget options I want to start here to give you some examples of good accomodation, reasonable priced. I have choosen hotels near of Copacabana, because this is one of the famoust beaches and because from there it is more easy to reach other places inside the city, by bus (in front of Av. Atlantica right at Copacabana a lot of buses are passing) or by metro which is more safe than buses and airconditioned. Unique Qualities: This hotel is 100 metres from Copacabana beach away and next to the Metro-station "Cardeal Arcoverde", the only one in Copacabana district. A standard room for 2 persons was about 160 Reais/night/room a couple of weeks ago, ...now they seem to changed the prices, but can't find them at the page, but I will find out by E Mail and soon write down here the actual ones!
