Hello VT Friends,

and of course all those people too who came to my pages because of a posting in a travel-forum or maybe a search at the Net. Some of this persons will know me by my travel-forums-used nickname "carioquinha" (Brasil-Web and Thorntree), but my real name is Evelyn. I am 28 years old german girl, living in Germany and like to travel.

I guess after more than 2 years beeing a member of Virtualtourist I have to say that I really love this page! Thanks to the really big community here I met some nice new friends, and in the future I hope to get to know some of you personally (in especially Rafael, Janaina, Aless, Adelia, ...)!

As you will see in almost all of my pages my journeys took me 14 times to wonderful
BRAZIL ,
my favourite country .....and sure will take me the 15. time back there ..;-)

But of course I have also visited some other countries on our globe as well , please have a look at my TRAVEL MAP to know where I have been around this world.

I love to post travel related answers especially about Brazil at the BRAZIL VT FORUM or personally by E Mail

Maybe you wonder, why I always post answers in the forums about Brazil and did not built many advices about it yet?That's because I din't had the time to do it, ...but will try in the next coming weeks (when I overtake my lazyness LOL) to fill more infos, to give you as much information as possible about this great country...
so visit my pages from now on regularly and you will always find new advices and photos!
I will try my best to be as accurate as I can in therms of advices, I do not like the common bla bla about destinations...and I will also try to give you as much of Internet links on the topics I write about for you to have a better idea on what you can expect.


I didn't came here in the last few weeks a lot, because I felt very bad since my last trip to Prague in the end of August 2003. We found out that my health is okay, but that I had several panic attacks in Prague as well as here at home in Germany....
so now I am trying to overtake my fear of going out ('cause every place I go I fear I would have a new panic attack)...even if it is not very easy.
I already have some medicine to take here but it is still difficult to me to understand that my panick attacks can come every time...and I am trying to get a therapy for it, which is damn difficult too, because the lists of people who has this problems is looong and so it's very difficult to get a therapy.

Lately me and my boyfriend also had to cancel our journey to Brazil (planned for November /December 2003) 'cause I was very bad and since this time we are looking for a hospital for me to go to to get rid off this bad panick attacks....
Now we found a hospital and I am going at 12.12. the first time...
damn I am really afraid of that...
but I know that I have to do it!!! :-(

So in the next few weeks/months it can be that I a less here at VT to discuss and answering questions...due to that in the hospital I guess there will be not allowed any Internet connection...but I think on the weekends I am at home and so I can try to at least read your mails...even if I won't have energy to answer all.

Please do not misunderstand the fact that in the last few weeks I haven't answered any mail I got here in VT from people asking me something...
I got them all...but I couln't get in the right mood to answer them ..so please if someone still has a question about anything then please send the E Mail again!
lately I have received hundreds of mails from people asking me something about Brazil or brazilian destinations. So that is also the reason I sometimes didn't even updated my pages here on VT for months or could not answer all of the mails I got. Sorry for that, but I read every mail and who is still interested please write me again then.
But anyway:
I love to receive mails and if I can, I will answer it as soon as possible...
so BE PATIENT with me, please... ;-)

Oh, by the way:

My nickname here in VT is "Mangueirense", that's because I have travelled twice to see the famous Rio de Janeiro's Carnival and my favourite samba school is the most oldest and popular one in Brazil...named M A N G U E I R A!

I simply love not only this school, all the others are in my heart as well..as they all have fantastic samba beats and always do their best at Carnival......but my school is and will always be the green and pink one! If somebody of you out there in the world is "MANGUEIRAAAAA " too so please contact me!
Mangueira by the way means "Mango Tree" in portuguese.

Ah, and I am not the only one who loves this school....
for example the brazilian top model GISELE BUENDCHEN is a fan of this school too!
On Friday, when Mangueira held their last ensaio for Carnival time 2004 she came to dance with some people there and yesterday (Sunday)she has been looking Mangueira's Parade in the Sambodrome.

I have also participated twice in the biggest event on earth:Carnival in Rio...danced there with my "green and pink" samba school in the parade...have to say that it was one of the most exciting things I did in my life! Will never forget this!

I do speak portuguese fluently as my mother was born in southern Brazil and I have relatives and a lot of friends in Brazil...but always like to know new persons wo have travelled there (or will travel) or live there...so please contact me!

As I am also a postcard-collector and have a huge postcard-collection (especially from Brazil) I will post some of the nicest here in VT, look at the travelouges and the VT -pages from each city.
Everyone who loves to collect postcards too please contact me, so that I could send you some nice ones from my home or elsewhere...and of course you are invited to send me a postcard from your place, then just send me an E Mail that I can give you my adress to send to!
Oh, as lately I have received some postcards from my VT-friends I would like to join the happiness with you, so please look around at my newest travelouge " Postcards received from VT-friends"...

..is one of my favourites contests just because I love to listen to international music! I am a real fan of it, i'ts just interesting to hear songs in swedish, turkish, greek, portuguese or other languages....so many colors, styles and voices. This contest is held every year in another european capital and it is a contest only between european song-writers. There are participating 24 countries each year, some countries (those one with the last 15 places at the final) will not participate in the next year, they will be substitued by the other ones which made the brake of one year.
This time (at 24.05.) the Eurovision Song Contest (or simply called "Grand Prix Eurivision") was at Riga, the capital of Latvia. In my opinion it was a spectacular show, with lot's of good performances, good singers and a different kind of music, one of the best contests of the last years! Even if I didn't voted Turkey first, I liked their style of music, international mixed with arabic style. Congratulations to Turkey to win the contest this year, and see you next time in Istanbul! :-)

Have to announce that BEIJA FLOR DE NILOPOLIS won the first place into the competion of the samba schools in Rio de Janeiro again, just like in Carnival 2003! My school MANGUEIRA made the 3. place which is also good.
