This March I was visiting my good friend Rikke, her boyfriend Carsten and their new-born, sweet little child Nomi (on the picture you see me holding her, she was 6 weeks by that time) for the first time in their home country Denmark. I have met Rikke (and Laura) in Malaysia in the summer of 1999 and since then a strong friendship tied us together. Rikke lives in Karlslunde in the countryside on Zeeland about 30 minutes out of Copenhagen. From their living room in the second floor you good see all the way to the sea. The idea to live so close to the sea is still something special for me coming from inland country. I also visited Laura, a good friend of Rikke whom I also met on my journey in Asia. I haven't seen her since then! Laura lives in the middle of Roskilde. This town is 30 km west of Copenhagen and almost became Denmark's capital once. The “Domkirke” is the final resting place of the Danish Royal Family. As the weather was almost always bad I spent most of the time inside and I didn't gat a very good impression of the country. So next time I go and visit my Danish friends, I'll go during the summer.
