Altitude sickness....I got it!!!

What I am attempting to do for these pages

I just wanted to give him a good wash!!!
I made a friend today....

As a tour leader/representative of the Chinese Culture Club, I was asked if i would like to go on the trip to Tibet at the beginning of September. Although Tibet has never held a special place in my heart, I thought that if i didnt go now I would most likely never go of my own free will, so I accepted! And I am very grateful that i was offered this position as I had an amazing time and saw things I have never seen before and most likely never will again. The trip was for 7 days and we visited LHASA, TSETANG, SHIGATSE, GYANTSE and SAMYE. All very interesting places in their own right. So as usual I am going to start building up my pages and then hopefully there will be a wonderful product at the end..ha ha!!! But this could take some time as there is quite a lot to write. I have looked at other people's pages and seen some great Tibet pages...just hope mine can equal them.
My...that IS a long one sir!!!

Tibetan Customs

Although only in Tibet for one week, our guide told us some fabulous stories of the Tibetan people and their customs, so I am going to attempt to reconstruct those stories for you. These will be under LHASA - LOCAL CUSTOMS. I enjoyed hearing about then the first time round, and I hope you will too.

The Tibetan people had such wonderful faces and expressions unlike anything Ive ever seen over in the east of the country, so I am making use of the LHASA - OFF THE BEATEN PATH section to show you just what I mean...truely wonderful photos!

This is not a transportation tip as such but more about what you can see on the way be it by bus, car, donkey or yak perhaps....enjoy the views in the LHASA - TRANSPORTATION TIPS section!!!
Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaak butter!!!

Tibetan food and smells

Well, I KNEW they used a lot of YAK in their meals, be it yak tea, yak butter or yak meat, but COME ON!!!! The smell was everywhere...in the streets, in the monasteries and even on the people...do they have yak shampoo and face cream I wonder? Well I know they use yak butter as sun protection, but really, the smell was too overpowering for my liking! In this section, I am going to describe the sounds and smells I found lingering around in Tibet. Go to LHASA - RESTAURANT TIPS and GENERAL TIPS to know more about this.

And if you want to know about any games or traditional sports the Tibetans take part in, please go to the LHASA - SPORTS PAGE
