Absolutely gorgeous capital city of Oman. Not a very popular tourist destination with Americans but a fulfilling visit. Oman is very westernized and liberal when compared with other Gulf countries. There is (or was in '98) a Pizza Hut, Fuddruckers and McDonalds in Muscat, but that's not what we were there for.
The views of the mountains and the sea are breathtaking and for extra adventure, head out into the desert and see "wild" camels running down the road. Definitely an eye-opening experience for this city girl.
