Maple Valley... it just kinda rolls off your tongue! This community became an incorporated city about 5 years ago. It is part of the large area known as King County.
I have lived there since 1976, and just recently moved to Tukwila, WA. As you may have
guessed already there are a lot of maple trees in this area. There have been contests to find the largest maple leaf locally as well as nationally.

This community is growing tremendously, to the point where the roads and school districts have been seriously impacted. Highway 18, which is in the east-west direction, is currently being redirected and widened. It is known as "blood alley" because of the numerous fatality accidents which occur there. When I was a volunteer firefighter,I had been involved in providing care many times to auto accident victims.

The Cedar River flows through the heart of Maple Valley. It is designated a protected resource because of the runs of Sockeye Salmon upstream and therefore sport fishing is not allowed. The Cedar drains intoLake
Washington, a very large body of water. This is where the Sockeye fishery occurs on the average of every 5 years
