Welcome to Albania. I hope that this webpage will provide some information for those thinking of visiting this ancient and fascinating country.
Until recently, Albania was known as the "Tibet" of Europe due to its rugged mountains, a fiercely independently-minded populace believed to have decended from the ancient Illyrians, and a communist government that made travel to Albania all but impossible.
In Albania, one can find sunny beaches, broad plains, and remote mountains, as well as stone-age, Greek, Roman, and Byzantine ruins...all nearly devoid of tourists. Most prices in Albania are reminiscent of the Europe of 30 years ago.
I will be adding to this page from time to time from the more than 2 hours of video footage taken in November 2001.
