Bansko is a small town in south west part of Bulgaria. It is situated 1200m over the sea level and is famous for its nice ski slope, his typical bansko meals and the heavy red wine of the south west region of Bulgaria. As we say - "You can cut the wine with a knife" (=thick). |
| | This is one of the less villages in Bulgaria not destroyed during the turkish invasion and in the next 500 years during the turkish occupatin. One of the reasons was that all the houses were surrounded with 50 cm thick 2,5m high walls (some of them still stand there and others are renewed.
The city was so isolated in the Osman empire that some of the meals served there can be eaten only there now... |
| | In the last 2-3 years this small village has grown up to a small town with lots of hotels and because of its beauty it attrackted a lot of foreign investors. Now it is growing every minute and is full with new hotels. Every newer one is better and better - indoor pools, lounges, sky bars with a view on the slope...
They even have rebuild this summer the slope and the whole infrastrucktutre in order to satisfy the highest standarts of the new hotels and hopefully the new guest that are going to come.
Expect soon more Information about Bansko and some tips on the local meals :-))) |
