EL Medano Beach

My favorite Beach on Teneriffa is "EL Medano". It's one of the few natural beaches on the island.
There isn't much infrastructure there, just the beach, a small beach cafe and that's it! For that its not as crowded as the other beaches.

Directions: The Beach is very near to the Airport, You can get there by Bus, or using the car. From Adeje use the Motorway direction Airport, then follow the signs to El Medano

Pico del Teide

A musst is of course a trip up spains highest mountain the Teide (3700 meters). There is a cable car (built near berne switzerland...) to get up wich makes life easyer. The cable car takes you to about 200 meters below the peak. If you want to walk up you need a permission wich can be obtained at the National Park adminstration in Santa Cruz. Make sure it's a nice day when you want to go up and get there early. After 11.00 there is often a waiting time for the cable car of more then 2 hours!
A warning! As the peak is very high people with heart- and other medical problems or small children shouldn't go up! Even we as swiss and used going up mountains could feel the hight!

Teide National Park

The Teide national Park is definitly a musst see.
Only driving a short distance you see forrests, high mountains (the Teide is spains highest mountain) and fabulous lava formations. There is only one road leading through the NP. From this road you can see lots of great sights. You can park your car at one of the parkings and have a short walk, but don't get to far away from the road as orientation isn't very easy there!
If you like to hike there are some great routes, probably its best to have a guide with you.
If you havn't got a car you can go on one of the numberous day trips by coach or what is much less expensive take the normal bus (see www.titsa.com for timetables)

Anaga Mountains

A musst see are the Anaga Mountains. You can drive round them comfotably by car. It's very interesting to see how the passat winds blow the clouds over the Mountains. You can see exactly where the clouds leave back some moisture and makes the plants grow. There are some nice walks and hikes there too.

The best way is to drive round clockwise, so you can avoid some of the traffic at Santa Cruz, see the main sights and after the tour your at the right place to have a swimm in the sea at the Teresitas beach. The only beach on Teneriffa with yellow sand (the sand was brought there from the Sahara desert!).
