Restaurant Name: De Hoecksack
Delightful little place in the corner of the old market square. Lovely garden and very popular for parties and receptions. Right next to the castl ruins of Heenvliet.
The building is from 1563.

I ate here on November 2nd, 2002.
And a pleasurable surprise it was! After 15 years of living nearby I never saw this place for anything else than a pub or a terrace where you can enjoy a cool drink while cycling around.
Favorite Dish: Anyway, the November menu (4 courses) was €24 and seemed to be very good.

I ate à la carte:
a degustation of 4 different entrées (€ 12,50) of which I liked the marinated tuna best. Followed by a clear game broth (€4,50) with spring onion and mushrooms. Tasted superb!
Main course was stewed veal and veal thymus (gland) with a calvados sauce (€ 18,00).
To finish off I had a crème brulée perfumed with tonka beans. I had never heard of tonka beans. They were large (about 15 mm long) and their skin looked rather like a vanilla pod. The perfume was vanilla/almond/coconut-ish. Seems these tonka beans (from South America) are about € 50 for 100 grams.
Coffee with delightful nibbly things at the end.
Including pre-dinner drinks and wine, we spent an average of € 44 per person.
