This is not really a travel warning because high water is quite rare. The last dramatic high water was in 1993 and it is by far the highest.
In the 1st and 2nd photo you can see that they've made measures to keep eventual water out by raising a barrier in the street on the Trarbach side of the Mosel.
On hotel Bellevue you can see how high the water came. The oldest measurement there is, I think, 1830.
The 3rd photo shows a yellow line where you see some more high water periods.
On the 4th photo you see the highest sign on 22 Dec. 1993 (that's the pink colon). To illustrate I've added the 5th photo where you can see that same pink colon (with the lantern on top) at the entrance of the hotel. That is really high!
