Favorite Thing: In 1857 and 1879 there were some big fires in the old centers of Traben and Trarbach, which almost completely destroyed them. At the end of the 19th century, a flurry of rebuilding started. Especially in Traben where in 1900 a new town hall was built, a railstation building in 1904 (where the Tourist Information is now situated) and then the Post Office in 1908.
On the other side of the river in Trarbach, there was a new Gymnasium (1905, unfortunately I didn't see that), and a wellness center Kurhaus Bad Wildstein (1901-1907).
Information from "Jugendstil in Traben-Trarbach" von Ines Wagemann
Fondest Memory: The rebuilding started soon after the fires and resulted in some fine Jugendstil examples around the turn of the 19th/20th century.
