Cologne Christmas Markets I have recently come back from the christmas markets in Cologne. I have to say they were not really what i expected but i guess they are brilliant for those really into Christmas. The stalls mostly sold traditional German christmas items such as carosels. Also lots of German food such as bratwurst. One thing is was told to try was the gluewein, so i did thinking that it was going to be lovely but it was nothing special, similar to mulled wine. That was about 2 euro's. One thing you must see when you visit the christmas markets is the Dom Cathedral. Inside it is spectacular with two areas where you can light candles, sit and pray. Or you can sit in the pews and pray. Tours are available, english speaking ones are not as frequent, i think it was about every half hour to an hour. Leaflets are available inside but at a price! Other shops in Cologne include a Louis Vittion, Espirit, Hennes and many more selling high street clothes to designer shoes which include Gucci. Cologne is great for everybody! But beware at this time of the year the area is packed! And pickpockets are around! Also the weather - it was so cold, definately below freezing! Pictures will be available as soon as they are developed! |
