"Groningen city" Groningen by OlafS

The capital of the province of the same name. Once a small settlement, built by Saxons from Drenthe on land they conquered over the Frisians, and now the biggest city of the northern provinces. Actually, it once was so powerful that it managed to prevent other cities nearby from developing. Which is why the rest of the province is still very much an agricultural one, with lots of small villages with amazing churches which I might tell you about later.
The city is very popular among students, perhaps because they find more bars here on a square kilometre than anywhere else in the country, but of course also for the university. But I was here for its architecture. Check the Must see activities and the travelogue!
- Pros:Many interesting buildings
- Cons:So far away
