Leeuwarden - Ljouwert - Leeuwarden

Leeuwarden is the capital of the province that is now officially named Fryslân but is usually still called Friesland by the people outside the province. And as this province has a language of its own, Frisian, its capital has two names too, even though few people in the city actually speak Frisian.

A few years ago I regularly visited this city but I took only few pictures, perhaps because I got used to the place so quickly. Yet it's a nice place, with interesting architecture, museums and many small and specialized shops in its alleys. In the summer of 2002 I went back for one day.
