""Bubble Gum Tree"" Washington D.C. by garciam

This city has amazing architecture. To walk the downtown streets is as if you are touring an outdoor museum. Treat yourself to a walk from the White House to the Capitol building instead of taking a taxi. A must see is the "Bubble Gum Tree" across from the house where Abraham Lincoln died. The locals have started this tradition long ago of sticking pennies to the tree with chewed bubble gum. This is considered a memorial for Abraham and the penny as you know had his face on it. So when you visit stop over and stick a penny to the tree....I did with bright blue gum! Go ahead, see it for yourself.
