What a Unique little island! No motorized vehicles allowed, horses and bikes only!!

The island is full of old homes and B&B's, horse drawn buggies line the street's and the distinct combination smell of manure and fudge will be with you for days!

The island is situated between Michigan's lower and upper peninsula and is close in driving time to many other destinations.

We have visited every year for the past three years, although we went by boat a vehicle is just as easy. Ferries take you from either Mackinac City (LP) or St. Ignace (UP). Once in the area you can visit Harbor Springs, Charlevoix, Traverse City and Bay Harbor. There are many other great towns to see as well but these are our favorites. Each is small, quaint, great shopping and food, has marina's with everything from small fishing boats to 200' yachts.

Both land and water are beautiful!
