The first time to an English speaking country

by marenloo - last update: Sep 11, 2006

Another European country

Big Ben
It's a new visit to a European country for me and the first visit to an English speaking country. What I knew about London - my first destination was only the hyde park , Madame taussaud and the big ben. I don't remember any thing else. Before coming to London I booked in a hotel very close to Madame taussaud but I didn't think to visit it . Maybe I'll do once but I don't think that it's worth it. So I decided to go to the zoo which was a very good idea.
The weather was very similar to ours. To be accurate it was hotter than Aljabal Alakhdar in Libya these days. People of London who prefer to speak about the weather all the time said it was a heat wave in the whole Europe and it would be OK soon. They were right and it started getting colder a little bit and started raining - we are not used to rain in July-Augaust.

People

I came to this country with a list of advice : " Don't try to help old people or children ! Be aware from thieves ! your camera and mobile .. Remember ! You are not in Libya".
To be abvious I had an enmity view towards people and decided not to speak with them as much as I could.
As I stepped out of the airport with my wife and her relative carrying some heavy bags. Two pepole came and asked me if I need some help.
And I decided to change my idea because they were really very helpful.

Did I study English or something else ?

After listening to some people in England I though I studied another thing in the school. They say to me : " your English is perfect ".... " But I don't understand your Pronunciation , did I study another English? ". As I moved to Manchester I found it more terrible. After spending a month in London, leeds and Manchester I noticed the different accents . I could speak and get along with them very easily.
