Benghazi:
The major city in the east of Libya..

It was known by several names in the course of its long history, namely: Hesperides in Greek times, (Euhesperides). It means "The happy city of the west'' and then by the name of Berenice in Ptolemean and Roman times, and Benghazi in the Islamic era. The city is 2500 yrs old and was one of the five cities of Cyrenaica which was also known as Pentaplis .Cyrenaica and Pentapolis are both names of the Libyan eastern part which had five cities : Benghazi , Toachera , Barce , Cyrene and Darnis . Bernice was another name of Benghazi after , the wife of Ptolemy III in 347 B.C.

All other building are new and the city itself has got a considerable extension to all directions.
Benghazi is enclosed by the green mountain from east and south. It is 30 km from the city center to Alrajma which is in the south and belongs to Baldiyat Benghazi . There are several forests where people prefer to camp in the springs . Toakra is 75 km east and at this point the green mountain touches the sea to represent very lovely scenes. These the most favorite place for people to their own picnics.
