Puerto Juarez Isla Mujeres Review

This is puerto Juarez, where we bought our tickets to Isla Mujeres. And these are the small boats that took us there; the guy in yellow is part of the 'company' that operates these boats. Our guide was really nice and very patient, he showed us different snorkeling sites, and even swam with people who were scared, holding their hands.

We paid about 20USD for the whole tour, which included snorkeling at 3 different sites, lunch, and an hour of leisure at Isla Mujeres. It is definetely much cheaper than going with the hotel tours. The lunch consisted of fresh fish, rice, and cabbage salad -- it was very tasty!

the downtown is charming, filled with stores full of ceramic, wood and metal crafts.
We went snorkeling at 2 different locations: one near this remains of what once was a ship, and another location on the west side of the island. The second one was better... we were on our way to snorkel at the Garrafon, but it started to pour really hard, so we had to skip it...

there're various ways of getting to isla mujeres, and if you ask at the hotel they'll refer you to the tours some agencies have, which are pricey. We took the regular city bus to Puerto Juarez, just ask the driver to let you off at P. Juarez.

Local Dancing

if you can, go see a show with traditional dancing/clothing. It is similar to flamenco, lots of foot stamping. Love the clothes!!!!

Colorful Cemetery Isla Mujeres Review

i know this seems a bit morbid, but here is a picture of a cemetery in Isla Mujeres. We were in Mexico for 'el Dia de los Muertos' (Day of the Dead, literally translating), so there were flowers everywhere. The cemetery is simple, but very peaceful and nice.

This is my second picture of a cemetery abroad (first one was in Morocco).

lizard man

this was really hilarious, the guy dancer was supposed to be a lizard (or something similar?) and he was crawling on the floor, sticking his tongue out then he stuck his head under the girl's dress.
