    • Watch where you step or you might end up stepping on a snake! I luckily missed stepping on the snake -- I was so distracted by the surrounding scenery, that I did not see this snake right in the middle of the path, and I stepped over it -- phew!

    We encountered a park ranger later on, and told him about the snake, which it turns out was a bullsnake -- apparently a "friendly" one, as opposed to the rattlesnake, which by the way, is also found in the surrounding area. So... just don't stick your hands in any dark holes in the ground or in trees... they seem to like the trunks of trees as well...
