Getting TO/AROUND: Brisbane is accessable by air, bus, train, boat and car. The airport is about 15 minutes from the city centre, and there is now a train which goes from the airport to the city for around A$11.

Brisbane has a relatively small population, but size wise it is actually one of the biggest cities in the world. This means is is very spread out, and if you're wanting to get to an outer suburb, it can be a long distance.
By the standards of bigger cities, Brisbane's transport system is not terribly good for its size, or especially cheap. I suspect this is largely due to the fact that we don't have the population to cater for a larger scale transport system. Despite this, there is a reasonable train system in Brisbane, though trains stop at around 1am and don't start up again until about 5am. The bus service in Brisbane is also reasonable, with prices dependent on the number of zones you travel. There are a number of interstate bus services which run from the Brisbane Transit Centre at Roma St, where there are also travel desks and information booths about activities in the area. The Transit Centre also has showers and lockers for backpackers to store their things. YHA travel is also across the road.

For information on ferry, bus and train times you can call Transinfo on 13 12 30. There is also a website http://www.transinfo.qld.gov.au/.

Cool tips for Brisbane's nightlife Renee. love the Zoo, been there quite a few times. Rics sounds like my kinda place too, so does the Moon Bar.

I have to agree. Lucky's is one of my favorites and you can't get better value in the valley. Try the gnocchi with sausage & beans, it's delicious.

Hey, i thought this comment was very true... I agree with the fact that even more public places can be mugging spots. There is one thing you forgot though. At night you should never travel alone. It's always better to be with a group of friends.
