Brisbane the capital of the State of Queensland, and is located in South East Queensland, about 145kms from the border into NSW. It is a pretty laid back city, with a population heading towards 2 million.
The climate in Brisbane is sub-tropical, with hot summers and mild winters. The average temperature in summer (December to February) is 29 Degress C, with some days reaching over 30 degrees and others in the mid to late 20's. Winter (June to August)generally averages between 9 and 20 degrees C, with nights generally under 10 degrees.
Brisbane offers a range of activities, and for various reasons appeals to all kinds of travellers. The proximity to the coast means Brisbane is a short drive from some of the most spectacular beaches in the world. The rainforest and hiking opportunities are also close by.
The downtown area of Brisbane (around New Farm and Fortitude Valley) is home to some fantastic restaurants, clubs, boutique shopping, and the Chinatown mall.
Brisbane's CBD has a pedestrian shopping mall, numerous restaurants, food courts, banks, retailers, parks and a great river walk.
South Bank, across from the CBD, makes an interesting day out, with weekend markets, a man-made beach, a myriad of restaurants, cafe's and snack bars, as well as parklands to enjoy.
Kangaroo Point, across from the Botanical Gardens, has a picnic area and some good rock climbing areas. |

I agree with the fact that even more public places can be mugging spots. There is one thing you forgot though. At night you should never travel alone. It's always better to be with a group of friends. |
