It could be any British High Street, with two exceptions... the prices and the climate. Shopping here is tax free, good bargains can be acquired in goods such as Alcohol, Tabacco, Jewelry and Cameras. Where else could you enjoy the the surreal experience of British life in the Mediteranean.
The main feature of Gibraltar is its impressive rock, rising 1,400 feet (430 m) out of the sea and 2 miles (3.2 Km) long. It is one half of the 'Pillars of Hercules' from mythology, the Atlas mountains of Morroco across the straights being the other half. It is riddled with natural caves and man man tunnels. Historically it was a good base, controlling the entrance from the Mediterranean to the Atlantic ocean.

Although I found your comment to be of definite benefit to me as I’m thinking of having a day trip to Gib from Spain, you mention about avoiding rush hour times, would that be English rush hours 7am-10am / 3pm-7pm or Gib rush hour? lol John from UK
Im back home this summer for three weeks (aug)..I would like to meet up with some Spanish residing VTers....any chance of that happening do you think?
I will go there one day ....... apparently a day will be just enough time :)
Hi Stace! Enjoyed my virtual tour in Gibraltar you as my guide. A great page indeed. Happy Birthday from Finland!
Very accurate and helpful tips refreshing my great memories.Haha, I was a bit shocked when I, a pedestrian entering Gibraltar, had to give a way to... taking off airplanes :-). I didn't know about Llanito.
Oh so it;s the old "dolphin photo i took in Israel" trick. Great info on Gibraltar Stace, I am learning so much about world geography! Thanks, Kat
I want to go back just to see the dolphins and I did not know they had their own language.
Hey Stace, great page about a wonderful spot on Earth, I saw the famous Gibraltar mounatin on the Horrizon from Morroco's beach, ;-D
Hmmm, when do the Brits plan to vacate the Rock and let Spain have it? Just stirring the pot....
Interesting page of great place! Happy travels and best wishes.
