  • simeon stayed between 37 and 42 years on the top of the central pillar,preaching the word of god...
    pillar was 12meters high and 2 m wide...
    today remains only the central stump,victim of enthusiastic pilgrims (until end of 10th century)

    the entire site is made of gypsum (gipsy king!!!)

    maybe,because this important archeologic site reveals itself not very tourist...i mean you can visit it alone,without harassing...
